Vhin-gums are bizarre creatures and evolutionists are puzzled by their very existence. They resemble huge (8 feet diameter) coin-shaped objects. Along the rim of the "coin", can be found the many eyes (typically 32 - 36) of the creature and countless numbers of tendrils line both "rims" of the creature. On the top and bottom surface of the "coin" are concentric lines of sharp teeth that are strong enough to crush rocks.

The vhin-gum moves about at a slow crawling rate (about twice the speed of a turtle actually). However, its most fearsome attack is achieved by flexing its body and pouncing upwards as high as twenty feet. The creature then tries to "bite" onto its victim as it lands. A vhin-gum is capable of launching this attack about 1d10 times before tiring and slithering away. Victims are enveloped by the vhin-gum and remain trapped unless freed from the outside.

Fortunately, vhin-gums are not carnivorous. They absorb nutrients from minerals found in rocks. However, they are extremely territorial and attack fiercely to protect their "grazing" grounds.
