Leo begins by shutting down the processing to allow for the imediate search and clearing of the area. "Any other requests?"

"Computer, estimate each vehicle's time of arrival and use astrogation optics to get a close up of the approaching explorer," orders Gren. "Compare the images of any biologicals inside with OE staff in the databank. Also, identify the incoming aircraft." Next he activates his chronocom to broadcast to the team. "We have incoming. Two aircraft, one explorer. I'm guessing that the aircraft are militia, but the explorer is unknown. B'Looone, I suggest you get that sec-bot with my recoiless set up somewhere useful. If there's an aircar in the garage, you'll probably have time to run it out to the hills to our west. That would be a good place to give us supporting fire if we need it."

OOC: Mal's actions over the next few turns.

Malcom has some reservations about Maria leading the clearing crew, but with Gren's announcement, having an actual OE miner around to speak to the authorities (if that's who they are) will be essential. He just has to hope that the robots will get things under control before she frag's the place. Hearing Leo's call for requests, Malcom replies with an enthusiasm he certainly doesn't feel in his current condition. "Freebird!"

Mal holsters his stunner and heads back into the exam room. Following a hunch, he calls Gren to confirm the yazarian's presence on the Dart. Getting an affirmative response (assumed since it is true), he alerts the senior medic of the dral's presence and tells Gren to be prepared to look up the OE mine staff's biometric data. He pulls out his med scanner as he enters the room and searches for the sonic screen. Once it's off, he will ask the dralasite for its name and scan it. He will pass the information (name and scanner data) back to Gren in order to confirm the dral's ID. Malcom will put off answering any questions or requests until the prisoner's ID is checked. If positively identified, he will release the dral.

Doog thoughts were bitter. Stuff had been happening to him for decades now and yet again he was trapped! This was like Alcazzar all those years ago right before his memory goes blank for the last fifty years. The pirate attack that had left him destitute and bereft of his friend and mentor, Swazi. The need to eat that drove him to take the fragged up job with Streel on Alcazzar. Then 50 years of lost memory and evidence that some of that time was spent in cryo and among some sort of mercenary outfit. Then "waking" up in Port Loren with his last memory of Alcazzar being a report that a mercenary outfit had taken out some of the security personnel and a fat bank account attached to his name.

He spent the past year traveling and researching the public record to figure out what had happened to him and where he had been. Till the credits ran out and he took this lousy job to eat. He laid there feeling equal parts relief and irony. I suspected that he had fallen in with the mercs on Alcazzar rather then continue his association with Streel and here he was trapped again and another group of mercenaries could be his salvation. For all he knew these might even be the same mercs he fell in with 5 decades ago.

At the universal "shush" sign from the merc, Doog rolled a bit of skin down over one eye spot in imitation of a human style wink. He didn't guess that falling in with these mercenaries would be any worse than staying put.

Hearing Gren's update, Sebastian begins to look about the compound. Are there any surviving guard towers, preferably one with a machine gun or recoilless rifle? He will take position with any of those if available, otherwise he will scout the fallen bots and members for heavy projectile weaponry to counter the inbound explorer.

OOC: Sorry about the huge delay. RL has been crazy. Let's see if we can get this going again (this adventure is almost over).

BIC:
This post covers about 4 game turns.

Gren's initial query to the computer on the ETA of the approaching vehicles gets the following response: "Aircraft ETA approximately one minute assuming standard deceleration profile. Explorer ETA 3 minutes assuming standard travel rates. The passing seconds seem to confirm those predictions. No ID is possible yet on the aircraft other than that they have atomic engines as the glare from said engines, which are currently pointed almost straight at you blocks any view of the ship bodies. They are now about 70 km out and have dropped down to Mach 10 and still seem to be decelerating. The gun sight camera on the Dart gets a good view of the occupants of the Explorer, a male yazirian is driving with a male human passenger. There were no Yazirians on the base staff and the human doesn't match the profile of the two human males on the staff either.

Looking around the compound, Sebastian sees that only the NW and south central towers are still standing. Those towers were both sporting Heavy Lasers earlier. He also remembers that there was a Heavy Laser on top of the roof of the main building as well begin manned by the first SPDR robot the team took out.

There is an aircar and two more explorers in the garage if B'Loone wants to use them.

Hearing no other specific requests, Leo shuts down the ore processing facility. Sebastian and B'Loone (who are outside still) notice it gets quieter all of a sudden as the machinery shuts down.

Per their last orders from Malcom, the robots sweep out the kitchen and dining area quickly, finding it empty. Hercules Beta moves up to the next intersection as Maria moves forward to join him. Just as she's approaching, she hears a faint click on the door to the office/computer area as if someone has just fully closed the door and engaged a locking mechanism. Hercules Beta calls out, "Potential targets in the office area" and trains its weapons on the door.

Re-entering the room with the dralasite, Malcom exchanges his weapon for his med scanner. He quickly finds the sonic screen that has been jury-rigged to the bed and deactivates it. As Mal is entering the Dral notices Malcom's OE patch and visibly relaxes, realizing that this seems to be reinforcements from headquarters and not another mercenary group.

Hearing Malcom's asking for his name, the Dral responds, "Doog Luos, OE comp specialist here at the base." Malcom nods and sends Gren the name and bio data which instantly match up to a dralasite by that name on the list of base staff.

OOC: Jedi, check PM's

"Well, you check out Doogie," says Malcom. He begins to undo the restraints holding the Dral down. "Care for a hit of Biocort?"

"Well, deal with them!" Maria says to the bot, as she readies her gyrojet rifle.

Hmmm. maybe something to kill, she thinks to herself.

Gren relays the ETA of the approaching vehicles to the team. "Let's hold our fire," he suggests with an air of authority. "The spacecraft will be here first, and I'm certain that they're the law on this rock. Remember our orders, no unnecessary entanglements with the law."

Table talk @ Sebastian: As I recall, the Dart was outfitted with extra MGs for the weapons mounts we had installed.

OOC: Am I down STA?

IC: "Thanks! How do I keep ending up working for lame corporations and getting my person violated? Ah frag that was rhetorical. Just who are you guys? Where you from and how do I get off this rock?"

Yes, your current STA is 22 (getting beat up, a little light torture, malnutrition and general maltreament during your captivity).

Finished with the restraints, Malcom digs through the drawers and cabinets looking for a hypo of biocort, two actually. One for Doog and one to replace the dose he gave himself. He barely resists quoting any number of bad holo-vid lines in answer to Doog's questions.

"Yeah, scanner indicated that you might have some memory loss. We're the new OE trouble shooting team," he says. "Heavy on the 'shooting' so far. We came in on the TSSS Dart. Boss gave us our own ship so we could come rescue you damsels. I guess if you want off this rock, you'll need to talk to management for reassignment."

Malcom will give Doog the biocort injection once he finds it, or figures he's searched long enough and must resort to his own supply.

The room is fully stocked so can both give him a shot and replenish the other one you expended.

Casting around the med bay Doog looks for a med kit to appropriate. He knows he can use it and that in real desperation even the hypo could be used in melee combat, he just doesn't know how or where he learned basic med skill. He also looks for some improvised weapon.

To his rescuer he says, "Thanks, I appreciate the rescue, though something about this feels like dejavu. If you don't mind I'll grab up medical supplies and something to defend myself. I wonder if I'll be able to run down the rest of his possessions or if I should just bug out while the bugging is good."

Malcom injects Doog with a hypo of biocort. Then, recalling a documentary that explained the psychological benefits of arming rescued prisoners, unslings his laser rifle and dials the power setting down to five. "It has a single fully charged power clip, so you have 4 shots," he says as he hands it to the dral. "It's probably best that you stick with me until the base is completely secure. My team is scattered all around the compound, so don't shoot unless I do. Once you feel up to it, we'll join my team of robots securing this building. Ok?"

Doog is shocked at the offer of the laser rifle, it is his preferred weapon though he doesn't know how he learned to shoot. It's a real commitment of faith and looking into the eyes of this human Doog suspected that it was probably very much a scene like this that caused him to join up with that mysterious mercenary company he was sure he had run with for years.

Doog accepted the laser rifle. He pulled the power clip and inspected the contacts for both the clip and the rifle then slapped the clip home. Next he gave the laser emitter a cursory glance to check for cracks then hefted the rifle to test is balance. Satisfied he nodded and said,

"I stay with you, don't shoot till you do and don't waste ammo. Ah....what's your handle?"

OOC: anything of interest that Doog can scrounge here?

It's a sick bay medical room. Think of a cross between a doctor's exam room and hospital recovery room. There's effectively the contents of a medkit in the room (minus the operating equipment, the OR is next door) in the drawers and such. Across the hall is a fully stocked medical supply room, multiple medkits, extra supplies, etc.

And the sonic screen rigged up under the bed. It is wired into the base's power supply, however, so you'll need to find a power source to use it.

His handle's Rubber Duckie, mine's the Bandit, Sebastian's the White Knight, the Smokey's Friend.

Wall to wall and treetop tall, that is all, bye, bye.... :D

"Sorry," Malcom says, trying not to feel insulted by the inspection of his baby. "I'm Malcom Smythe, weapons man - beam and energy. In the hallway you'll meet Maria Craig, one of our pilots and a gem of a person." He lays on a heavy dose of sarcasm at the end of that sentence. "Our dossier on you indicates you're a computer specialist, but you've obviously had training with beam weapons yourself, and medical, obviously. Are you sure that you're feeling up to moving about? Maybe you ought to hang here until Gren, our chief medic, and check out your cerebral cortex."

"I like beam weapons, had one tricked out with extra attachments in a carrying case but no memory of acquiring it. I've had some basic med training but like a number of skills I just don't have the memories of learning them. Spent a year looking into why and spent a ton of creds on it but near as anyone can tell is I had a brain wipe of some sort. Found some intriguing public record information that linked me to an unknown mercenary outfit but I've hit a wall. No dis on your medic but I doubt he'll turn up more than the specialist at Port Loren. Anyhow I want out of this hole at any cost."

Doog kneels down and disconnects the hush screen from under the exam table.

OOC: he'll scrounge for a 20 seu clip from some odd piece of equipment in the med area that he might be able to plug into the hush screen. then cross to the other side to grab a med kit.
