To the Tune of "Men of Harlech"

Postby Will » Sun Oct 04, 2009 10:19 am

A proposed song for the Royal Marines, sung to the tune of "Men of Harlech"(the one from the movie Zulu):

Warriors of White Light stop your dreaming
Can't you see their mirror'd hulls gleaming
See their thrusters' fire streaming
In the darkest night

Warriors of White Light, stand you steady
It cannot be ever said you
For the battle were not ready
Stand and never yield

From the stars rebounding
Let this war cry sounding
Summon all at Clarion's call
The mighty force surrounding

Warriors of White Light onto glory
This shall ever be your story
Keep these burning words before you
Clarion will not yield!

Warriors of White Light stop your dreaming
Can't you see their mirror'd hulls gleaming
See their thrusters' fire streaming
In the darkest night

Warriors of White Light, stand you steady
It cannot be ever said you
For the battle were not ready
Stand and never yield

From the stars rebounding
Let this war cry sounding
Summon all at Clarion's call
The mighty force surrounding

Warriors of White Light onto glory
This shall ever be your story
Keep these burning words before you
Clarion will not yield!

I watched a double shot of Khartoum and Zulu last night, so sue me....

Nice piece of back ground fluff, I'll have to track down the music and listen to it.

I'm cool with this for the RM song- it can add a bit of color in a post for sure.

great submission Will.
A second year delivery driver who still could not back up his van told me, "Its Not that I Cant back it up a van its that I Dont want to." Funny I use to say the same about sex in high School.

Thanks.

Go to beemp3.com, search on Men of Harlech Zulu. Be sure to d'load the song used in Zulu(by John Barry/Welsh Men's Voice Choir), as "Harlech's" older than dirt and has several different sets of lyrics. Charlotte Church's version is in Welsh, just thought I'd warn you.

If you can't track it down on beemp3.com, YouTube has two Zulu! vids with Men of Harlech as the background music.

Or, better yet, Netflix the movie Zulu and watch it. The song plays twice, mainly at the end, where the British are making their last stand against the Zulu.

The song also is good to play in the final scenes of Khartoum, when Charlton Heston's fighting the Mahadists.

I remember it from Zulu. Good film though it has little basis in fact.
