You all get Dalmar's strange message over your chronocoms.

Kahn, you are leaving your meditations as previsouly described and you are walking along when you get the call, just in time to duck out of the way as one of the polyplated goons walks by...muttering something in his helmet like...."Arrival, get to the bridge now....confirm when charges set. That's an order, goddammit!" Your heart skips a beat, and you look across the knook, to see the warrior-face of your comrade...the other Yaz....Gideon. Gideon, you heard it all too, and you were just strolling the ship mulling over some mission details when you heard the message. The two of you lock gazes, hidden in door recesses, as the soldier passes by. His weapon is lowered.
Your keen hearing picks up footfalls...most likely polyplate on steel, aftward. Sounds some ways away.

Grekka...you are around the computer room region on deck 3, trying to stay vigilant. Those police instincts start firing off in that chitonous skull of yours....a sudden feeling at first, then you heard something from one of the nearby computers. Your baseline pilot training made you immediately think "ship proximity alert." Taking a view out the closest available broadside you can actually see it....a freighter that appears to matching velocity of Dawn. And it does not look friendly. Suddenly, the lights go dim in the computer room, and red emergency lights go up...

RIgel...if you are out there, you are actually sitting with the beautiful doctor in the Lounge getting to know her and your research, when you get the call....it came through her chronocom as well...

Kriss....you are still in the cafeteria with a view into the main lounge/bar when you get the message. You are sitting by yourself at the time, but look up just in time to see one of those polyplate clad marines step in. "Hands up," it yells, holding up an assault weapon.

Turns out that bad feeling you were all getting....well, you had it for a reason.

I guess I don't step into the hall then given that response to my call down to engineering. Instead, Dalmar will:

  1. Lock the door.
  2. Place a call to the other team members. "Dalmar here again. The marines just shot the engineer Duran Krumm. I heard the shots loud and clear as I was talking with him on the intercom. Retrieve any weapons you can get your hands on and prepare for trouble."
  3. Take a much closer look at the robots. (Level 0 robotics skill from my Tech skill area) He will see if he can identify them and if they have a security lock on them. "TANJ, I wish Grekka were here at the moment. I could really use someone with a little more robotics expertise right now."
  4. If they don't have a security lock he'll try to open one up and list it's mission, functions, and programs to see if he can make use of it.

I'll post more once we get that far.

As for the earlier episode with the supplies:

After speaking with Dr Redd and getting the okay on the saline, Dalmar goes in search of Kahn. Upon finding the yazirian he lets him know the good news. "I'm your dral Doc. I just had a chat with the good Doctor Redd and she gave us the okay on getting that saline you wanted from the med bay. Just go pick it up at your convenience and if anyone gives you any grief, tell them to take it up with her. Plus if they have any dral grade stores, she said you can grab one of those for me. The last thing I want is to dehydrated down on that hot planet."

After talking to the doc, Dalmar heads down to the engineering levels and pick up the spare techkit and robocom kit and takes them back up to his and Grekka's room. One in each hand, he opens the door to find Grekka there as well. "Good luck," Dalmar says upon seeing his bunk mate. "Additional supplies. I figured if we were going to be down there for three months, it might not hurt to have extra parts for repairs and/or improvisation. So I took it upon myself to get us each a spare kit. We can take them down to the main storage area later but I wanted to make sure we had them under our control as soon a possible so I picked them up now. Here you go." He sets the extra robocom it down somewhere to indicate that it is hers but where it will not be in the way. "As far as I can tell it's a complete kit but you might want to look it over to be sure."

I know I'm young but I guess the place saw something in my skills there. How many people did they hire for this mission?"
Kriss seems to be a little more trusting and talkative since he seems comfortable with the Doc.

Kahn frowned, "Oh, my appologies, its a Yazirian word analogous to "spirit and soul" but also incorporates being-hood, I was a priest," he paused with a slightly pained looke then continued, "certain terms have become deeply rooted in my vocabulary over the past years despite my continued work in the medical field. I'll have to retrain myself to think more in line with PanGal and prevent confusion."

OOC: this answer is provisional in case anyone joins at the last minute and thus the actual number will change and or if the referee adds an NPC

"We are a six being party, charged with looking for evidence of a 4 being party as well as the crew of the previous ship and accomplishing the original survey mission as well. That would mean a reports on planetary Botany, Zoology, Meteorology, Geology, Anthropology and etc.To be honest I would think our party will be twice the size with a heavier science element. However that decision on my part would have been guided by the legacy of a clan with numerous clan heroes bathed in honor from the fields of survey and exploration work. though the fact that I find our situation slightly illogical does not mean that the organizers of this expedition did not have a certain logic that they were following. "

Kahn shrugged, it was not a yazirian gesture but he understood its meaning to humans so he used it.

"Either way we are about to get away from it all and have a grand adventure."

OOC: I wont contradict the referee's assumptions on the SD but I will state what I had intended for the SD 2 deckplans:

1.) I wanted something that was in line with KHs and yet kept the spirit and feel of the original SD- to which I went with no elevator and used those "air locks" as ladder wells as it had a visual feel similar to the original SD

2.) I tried to cover the basic areas in the original SD deck plan with the 3 decks that i did do and like the original module there were areas not depicted that could not be accessed and this was explained as explosions from when the pirates boarded let out atmosphere and thus there was vacuum on the other side of the hatches leading to deck 4 - which rail roaded the PCs into going up ship. I did plan to do the other decks but the dunjini files got corrupted and I was loathe to try to recreate the lost files, though I can see that I probably should suck it up and just do it all over again in CC3 software at some point.

3.) I envisioned SD2 as a freighter too large to land that piggy backed a shuttle to help land the team and its vehicles, drop buildings were the first outpost that the PCs encounter before they storm the pirate city which I felt made storming the outpost personal- "Hey, those are our buildings!" Drop buildings have a robotic attachment that guides them down and the PCs would then jockey them into place with the jet copter (also found at the pirate outpost- "hey, thats our helicopter") again the large cargo hold and piggy backed shuttle are down ship and I hand waved the "no access" to them. Deck 4 was the galley and common areas Deck 5 was engineering and Deck 6,7, 8 ish were effectively the big cargo hold.

BIC: Kahn took the case of 1 liter bags of saline solution that the plucky little dralasite came up with to the deck 2 storage area and simply labeled it, "VSE2 medical supplies" and left it rather than try to find the packing crates with the rest of their personal equipment. Kahn had to give him credit he came through.

IC the present:
After the armored marine walked past Kahn whispered to Gedion in their native tongue, "Eight opponents in polyplate armor with assualt weapons and mono-molecular blades, we're outnumbered, under armed and under protected. Our weapons are in the arms locker on the bridge where they have people setting charges and our skein suits are in storage on deck two as well as my kah'dan. I think we need to change this equation. I vote we try to get everyone up to deck two and see about storming the bridge to recover our arms if possible. What I'd really love to get our hands on is some tangler grenades to take out these armored goons!"

OOC: Depending on Gideon's response, Kahn will suggest using the all call to the team that Dalmar set up and text them their plan; we should avoid open audio communication that gave away information like the open com did with Dalmar. I'm further designating the air locks/ladder wells 12 o'clock, 4 OC and 8 OC to facilitate communication amongst us.

Kahn desires to work together with Gideon as well as pull the team together but wants very badly to recover his kah'dan (sword stats so its a good melee weapon)

Need a referee ruling: stay dose in the skill description it says it slows the heart beat and breathing to save a character below 0 Stamina so could we assume that if we managed to pig pile a polyplate good and rip his helmet off and If I manage a successful hit with a hypo filled with stay dose that it could be used to knock him out? I would think that a med kit should have a sedative to knock someone out but nothing is explicit in the description.

Since the computer is down and she is alone and has intelligence the others may not know (the unidentified freighter) Grekka will move to the cabins were the rest of her team and friendly crew are and start to rally them to action. While moving she will also use her chronocom to try and contact the others. (Gotta love being ambidexterous)

Upon learning that Gekka is on deck 3 as well, Kahn texts her that there is one armored combatant on this deck as well. (No audio).

Gideon instinctively reaches for one of his daisho, and silently curses when he realizes the swords are in the weapons locker.

Seeing Kahn text-typing on his chronocom and getting the silent message, he motions a thumb toward the footsteps he heard. He texts Kahn "footsteps that way" and will start heading to that direction to investigate...looking for something he can wield as a club.

After leaving the medical interview with the Yazirian, Kriss had made a decision that this strange creature was one that he could 'maybe' trust on this new job. It hadn't seemed judgemental and was quite pleasant in conversation with him and made him feel at ease and comfortable in this new setting. Kriss makes his way over to the lounge and looks around to find a table to sit and have a bite to eat and something to drink to celebrate his recent breakthrough in communicating with another outside of his comfort zone. While waiting for his food, Kriss takes a drink and puts it down on the table and pulls his chronocom out to check for any updates or messages when the action starts in the lounge. Before putting his hands up, he quickly types a message to the Yazirian medical specialist for the team, "Trouble in bar. Kriss."

"Gak!" Kahn swore under his breath. He explained the text from Kriss to Gideon. "I want more than anything to recover my kah'dan and skein suit from the baggage hold on deck two but doing that might take time that Kriss doesn't have. What do you think? Lets grab Grekka who we know is on this deck and text Dalmar to come up to deck four and help us rescue Kriss ? If its one of these armored goons and a group of us tackle him and rip his helmet off I may bethe able to inject him with a hypo full of stay dose to knock him out. Providing it succeeds we'll have gathered together 5 out of 6 of the team and obtained some weapons."

Grekka reads the text and moves more cautionly toward her teammates. Her immediate goals are to link up, get information on what is going on and then deal with it as the situation demands. They weren't paying her to sit around.

Suddenly, the lights go dim in the computer room, and red emergency lights go up...

Kahn was in the door recess of his stateroom [3 o'clock position] the hallway was short and bent at about 45 degrees up toward the little lounge area with a table and sofa that were bolted to the floor for times of 0g. Gideon was across from him in the other door recess which was the air tight door to one of the three ladder wells.

It was probably time for action so Kahn went to the bend in the hall and looked up toward table. The goon must have gone to the bridge via the ladder well at the 12 o'clock position which might mean that he used the door between the table and sofa or used the airtight door at the far end of the lounge. Carefully he peeked and didn't see anything then moved back to Gideon and entered the airlock that Gideon had been coming out of.

To Grekka he texted, "Ladder well closest to my room." Hopefully she did not enter the central corridor that ran between the 3 ladder wells and met in the middle as there was no telling if someone was out there. He crossed to the air tight door that lead directly into the computer room and began opening it. Grekka was on the other side and he motioned her into the ladder well but left the door ajar in case they had to come back through here fast. The airtight doors just took time to open.

He then laid down and put his ear to the hatch going down to deck four and listened for noise in the airlock below.

OOC: ok Gideon and Grekka we're on deck 3 and have a Dalmar in hiding on deck 5 and Kriss texting me of trouble in the galley on Deck 4. We have some useful equipment on deck two in storage, we still need to find Rigel. I think Kriss is probably a priority as we just dont know what the trouble is but can certainly jump to some conclusions. I'm for attempting a possibly futile act of rescuing a team mate the may just get us killed but will at least let him know that he was not abandoned to his fate.

the rooms on deck 4 are laid out exactly like the ones on deck 2 with the two storage areas being the kitchen and galley and the computer area of deck two is the rec room on deck 4. This means that providing the central hallway is clear we have two normal doors and two airlock doors with which to enter the galley I can go through an airlock door with med kit and hypo in hand which will draw the goon's attention and then the two of you can try rushing and tackling him through the normal doors. I'm sure Kriss will jump in.

I'll raise my voice and show the med kit and give a patter about Kriss having recently been on Omicron Cygnus 9 and contracting Cygnoid Blood Fungus which is very dangerous and very contagious if not treated and insist that I be allowed to treat him. no matter what his orders are I'll continue to move toward him offering to show him the med kit even telling him that I'll need to scan him and everyone on board to confirm that they has not been exposed.

@ Sam lets just use the map of deck 2 with the two storage holds for the kitchen and the galley the computer area would be the rec room. Let us know which one is the kitchen and which one is the galley.

Lets get the party started.

1st Rule of Acquaintanceship is: Always be Polite and follow the Rules.

“Gideon I can appreciate your desire to help our teammate but I should point out some difficulties with your plan. It counts on us moving unnoticed through the ship and then taking up different positions to charge at an armed and well assumed trained individual while spouting technical information which may or may not be understood by that individual. He might just shot you at the first sight of you. Also Kriss maybe captured but is not in immediate danger or they would have killed him already. If he does die before we get to him his opinion of what we did or did not will not matter.”

“If I may suggest a more prudent courses of action we should attempt to locate our other teammates, crewmembers and/or marines and some useful items and then attempt to release Kriss. But if you feel getting Kriss first is the only way to satisfy honor then give me the medical equipment and allow me to distract the intruder since you are the only one trained in hand to hand combat.”

@ Rat: actually its Kahn and I only have melee weapons skill but no melee weapons though I suppose I could hold the zamra and not throw it to smash away with it for 1d10 like it was a dagger.

I'm looking for input here and I think its stupid to charge an armed and armored opponent but feel sort of compelled to not let a team mate down. There is also the old saying, "Who Dares, Wins." If it works we'll have some weapons and a suit of polyplate armor that might fit one of us plus the possibility of open communications to listen to and try to figure out where people are at and whats happening. Unfortunately I dont think we have a lot of time to mess around. The goon squad just made their move and have not solidified control and things may still be confused for them so if we strike fast and take one our with surprise we have an edge. Its only a matter of time before they come and search our rooms for us, they haven't done it yet as seizing the bridge and the engine room were obviously their priority.

The idea behind the plan is that I have to use the hypo to knock the goon out so if two of you manage to grapple and tackle the guy and I try to rip his helmet off and hypo him in the neck and we assum kriss will pig pile on as well I think there is a chance this could work.

OOC --- Kahn had the plan, Gideon is investigating the receding footsteps. And Kahn isn't the only one trained in hand to hand combat, Gideon is skilled at both melee weapons and martial arts.

BIC --- At the mention of Kahn's melee prowess, Gideon slips a pair of leather yazirian fingerless sparring gloves on. "Anything beats standing around and waiting for them to find us." (Yes, I said it. The first of many Star Wars quotes...consider yourself warned)

OOC OK posts need to be a little clearer on who is speaking and to whom. Reread it three times and still did not get both Yazirians standing with me.

Also still did not answer question on course of action.

OOC: I listened at the hatch going down- have to see what the referee says about that- not sure if we want to go down this ladder if there is someone there.

For lack of something better I suggested the "fools rush in" approach but will definitely entertain something better.

If we decide to do this we should text Dalmar and ask him if he can make it to deck 4 to meet up with us and we should text Rigel to see where he is as we have not communicated with him directly. (sams post says lounge- crew lounge? or rec room?) If its rec room then going to deck 4 gets us 5 out of 6 people on the same deck and gets us one step closer to Dalmar.

Based on Sam's post I would rate it highly likely that the goon that walked past that Gideon and I glimpsed entered the 12 o'clock airlock and went up to the bridge as he was told so i would say we should be able to use one of the other airlocks to go down.
