Once the water was brought into the airlock foyer the robot was powered down to conserve energy.

Dalmar considered what was left behind by the pirates who seemed to have stripped the ship down to the furniture: a handful of console power packs and the escape pod still had power. They needed some light to keep the ship from feeling like a tomb with them trapped inside while the sand storm lasted. If nothing else he could top off the robot's parabattery to extend its range for them before it ran out of power. He assisted Gideon in recovering enough parts from the enviro systems to cobble together a hand pump to pump water thru the filter that Gideon pulled- they'd need to find a water source but they wouldn't need to worry about water quality.

Kahn rationed salt and water supplies as the storm dragged on for one day, two days, and on the third day the wind slackened...

As the team began stirring restlessly looking to get out of the ship Kahn announced, "We have enough water to back track to the kurabunga village, another destination its hard to say? Leave now or wait and scout the area?"
A second year delivery driver who still could not back up his van told me, "Its Not that I Cant back it up a van its that I Dont want to." Funny I use to say the same about sex in high School.

Over the days they were trapped by the storm, Rigel presses the issue of the pirate base with his companions. He argues that they are the only ones on the planet with resources that they both lack and need, and the only way to get at them is to take them from the pirates. He also suggests that they ask the Kurabanda for help in the matter.

After the storm breaks, and Khan asks for input, Rigel the know-it-all scout quickly blurts out "Water is everything here. Let's go back and re-equip."

"I happen to agree with Rigel", Dalmar chimes in. "Our next step needs to be raiding the pirate outpost set up in the drop buildings from the first expedition. They have resources and we need them. Plus there may be a subspace radio there that we can use. There was one with our equipment so I don't see why the first team wouldn't have had one as well.

"I also agree we should start by going back to the village. We can update Dr. Redd and fully resupply. Since it's going to be a raid, we'll want to pack as many weapons and ammo as we can get our hands on and some of them are still back at the village. Plus, it wouldn't hurt to see if the Kurabanda would be willing to help. They might not be able to do much but at worst they could help provide a diversion or at least guides through the forest to the outpost."

Kriss nods his head and smiles at Rigel's comment. "I don't mean to laugh Rigel but, it sounds like a line from a super hero movie. I get what you're saying, I just don't want any problems from the cop. My brother used to say that, 'If you're going to make and omelet you gotta break some eggs'. The Pirates are the eggs needed to be breaking to get us out of here. I don't want to be trapped here for the rest of my life. I'll do what it takes!"

"Works for me," Kriss as he stands up and waits for Rigel to rejoin the others as the sand storm sets in on the area.

Speaking in general terms to everyone Grekka sums up her feelings with Vrusk business rule #7 "Preparation is the the Key to Success and Profits."

"I agree we must destroy the pirates on this planet, not for our personal revenge but to set the matter straight with the local populations and get us home. However taking on a prepared position with ready defenders is very different than defending against a small group of overconfident attackers. Our first priorities will need to be gathering intelligence and making a plan of attack most likely using stealth and infiltration. We should also try and get more fighters from our new allies and possibly make contact with some of the other races they have mentioned to see what aid they can give us."

"Rule #7 is also summed up in an old human axiom - 'Thou shalt always cover thine butt' so I'd say I agree. If the Kurabanda could lend us aid, either in the attack or as a diversion, that would be a terrific advantage. Also, once we close in on the position, I can scout out it's defenses while the group prepares, and we can draw up a plan after?"

When Grekka is done speaking, Kriss will stand give his two credits. "I'm not military trained or anything like that but, I'll pitch in wherever I can to help us get off this planet. I may be of some use to Grekka's plan about infiltration and stealth. I've learned a little bit on how to use the rifle and pistol however, I can use a little more practice and ammo for them. I thunk we can all use some more for what we have. I think that we need to try and hit that smaller installation first, get what intelligence and gear we can, and then go on. Perhaps the Kurabana will be able to help us some?"

OOC: Just to be clear, I thought we were talking about the small outpost, not slave city one. I definitely do not want to take that place on with just a laser pistol. :)

OOC Yes we are talking about the small one, liberating Slave City is not something we are up to yet.

For those without a military background a plan details your strategy and tactics. Right now Grekka has only suggested a strategy ( the way you accomplish your goal) of stealth and infiltration. Our tactics (how you accomplish your goal) seems to be coming together with scout volunteers, perhaps others who have already formed a relationship with the natives can work toward getting them to assist us.

"Stealth and concealment, that's something I could do..." Gideon pipes up. "I'm not the best with a ranged weapon but I've acclimated myself to this slug thrower since we made planetfall. I'm best going toe to toe. I could probably get a couple of us to the entrance under the cover of night, assuming they have no IR sensors. But I'd be useless for bypassing any security measures they may have at the entry."

BIC: As Grekka lays out the need to take the pirates down but not out of revenge, Kahn quietly mumbles in his mane, "Speak for yourself."

He's chosen the pirates as blood enemy after realizing they had kidnapped and killed the old human veteran that he had shared a bottle with on his last night on Pale. Having been set a drift on the Frontier after his defrocking from the priesthood he had been in need of a mission and reason to live. He had signed up for the Volturnus mission because he had nothing better to do and it seemed like a good way to get as far as possible from the yazirian colonies.

Clearing his throat, "I come from a clan of scientist and doctors and had dedicated my life to serving my colony as a doctor. Yet, I felt that there was something more I was called to which lead to becoming a priest and studying psychology. Eventually I was chosen to become an Inquisitor for the Family but ran afoul of ... well lets just say I angered the wrong person all the preparations of my life to become a doctor, priest, and psych-social specialist all came crashing down in flames. Somewhat aimlessly I wandered as far away from yazirian colonies and joined a survey mission as a means of getting even further away. But I find my self here a warrior with out a cause in a place where there is tremendous need of a warrior to stand up and make an accounting. Since the Kurabunga village I've come to believe that perhaps the spirit of yazira called me here for this very reason. Perhaps its the will of Yazira that I should be here. I know that the rest of you are not very religious and that is ok. But we are here and the battle is here, I believe that Yazira has directed us to this very moment. Live or die we are the agents of Yazira's justice, like the horseman of the human apocalypse, we are called to exact an accounting on this wretched scum."

Kahn paused in his speech and then realized he had gotten a little preachy, he shrugged and subsided back into silence.

[RE: Kahn's opinion of returning to the village is that the water should hold out and we can start any time now that the sand storm ceased.]

Right or wrong Kahn's determined to engage pirates with his honor blades. From a practical stand point it's a risk since he's the doctor but having made them his blood enemy he was not going to shirk his responsibility. He was going to bath his honor blades in pirate blood.

Rigel listens intently as Khan says his piece. At the end, he is glad for someone else who will take this thing as far as it has to go against the pirates. After Kriss' apparent reluctance, Rigel was starting to think the sun may have baked his brain. To Rigel, it was simple. A+B=C. Pirates with the only way out, put us where we don't want to be. Pirates won't willingly give up their ride. Force will be necessary.

Rigel is not a bloodthirsty man, but he doesn't deny that getting a little payback as they accomplish their goals would be satisfying.

"Looks like the storm is letting up." He says.

Kriss steps forward and speaks to the group. "I'm not exactly proud of my past to where I am now but, like Rigel, I can help with reconnaissance, information gathering, and some tech stuff. I've gotten decent with the rifle and pistol, at least proficient with it to use it. I'm also trained to an extent with melee weapons. I'll do what I have to do to get off this planet, when it comes to dealing with the Pirates or anything that threatens us. I'm not a normally violent person but I will defend myself and the rest of us or our allies. We need each other to get out of here!"
