Pre-Adventure: In the Briefing Room

Postby Terl Obar » Fri May 09, 2008 12:23 pm

The briefing room at the Obar Enterprises office on Triad Station is a moderate 5m by 8m room. There is a small conference table in the center about 5 m long and 2 m wide with seating for 10 beings (four on each side and one on each end). In one corner there is a table filled with varioius light snacks and drinks. Along one of the long walls are also an additional 5 chairs. The entrance is along one of the short sides of the room. On the wall opposite the entrance is a large tri-vid screen.

Once you have completed your character, you may begin posting in this thread. Make your entrance, introduce your character and get to know the others. Once all the characters have arrived, someone from Obar Enterprises will arrive and begin the briefing and start the adventure.
The Laws of Physics will be enforced.

L:east there's food, Maria thinks to herself, as she walks into the otherwise drab little room.

She helps herself to most of what's been laid out, mainly finger sandwiches, chips and some of those little cheesy things one usually only sees at weddings(slave auctions, same gods-damned thing), before taking one of the chairs in front of the desk and propping her feet up.

"Now," she remarks out loud, "all I have to do is wait to see if anyone else was desperate enough to answer that magazine ad."
"So, no more running. I aim to misbehave."

This room doesn't taste very good, He thought as he joined the human female in the cramped room. There's bad dairy here. B'Looone was colored red today to reflect his excitement and anxiety towards this meeting. He was hopeful, but ready to walk out if the offer wasn't what he was looking for.

He sat opposite the human female. She's got a bit of a sour taste to her, he thought. "H'looo", he said as he extended a "hand" across the table, "I'm B'Looone".

Maria looks at the ugly red blob extending a....thing towards her, a hand going to the butt of her gyrojet pistol, as she shivers and goes,"ewwwww!"

"Get away from me, you disgusting thing," she adds.

A human male of average build saunters into the room with an apparent air of confidence. He quickly surveys the room and makes his way over to the snack table.
"Afternoon Ladies" he says. He picks up a few snacks and a beverage and takes a seat at the far end of the table.
"I'm Malcom" he states just prior to tossing some snakes into his mouth and chasing them down with the beverage.

"I don't think there are any 'ladies' here", B'Looone retorts, withdrawing his "hand" and still looking at the human across from him. Turning towards the newcomer he says: "I'm B'Looone".

OOC: sorry, I edited my previous post instead of adding a new one. I'll make a point of not doing that again.

"Engineer, robotics specialist and generally handy with things that explode", B'Looone elaborates. "What specialties do you bring to this table?"

"That's nice," Maria replies.

"I'm Maria," she replies, extending her left hand towards this Malcom, the tats of the Gozzorf City Amazons visible along her left arm. "I break things and kill people. How do you do?"

Sebastian enters the room, and takes a standing position near the entrance. Leaning against the wall and folding his arms, he casually studies the others in the room without making actual eye contact. "Remember your training", he thinks to himself. "Observe, identify, predict, decide, and engage." Continuing in self-awareness:

The female human --- "hovercycle trash" by the looks of her, I've dealt with a few of them near the outskirts of Maze in the past. What'd they call themselves? Ah, yes...the "Horsemen of Apocalypse", sporting a black & gold fire breathing horse's head on their backs and parabattery tanks. Yep, she ought to be a good ally if a scrap breaks out.

The male human --- looks like a merc. Good to have on your side, as long as the cashflow is holding out. Wait, I can't prejudge him that quickly. After all, here I am hiring out my services as well. Gotta keep reminding myself that I'm not in the service anymore. Welcome to civilian life.

The red-toned dralasite --- looks like a techie judging by the toolkits it's sporting. Gotta wonder how it fares with that gyro-rifle slung over what passes for its back. I've never worked directly alongside one of these jokers, good thing I packed my sense of humor, it looks like I'm gonna need it.

Sebastian makes eye contact with the human who introduced himself as 'Malcom'.

"Lieutenant..." He cuts himself short before finishing the rank designation, after all he no longer carries said rank since mustering out of the Star Fighter Corps, "...Rogers. Sebastian Rogers, former stick-jockey from the Minotaurian Defense Directorate."

Blast, gotta get used to the idea of civilian life.

Ting scuttles into the room. Uses his entenae to sniff the food. Pulls up two chairs and rests his thorax. He looks around the room and shows everyone a mandibular smile.

Maria squeezes this Malcom's hand a little too hard to be friendly.

Sliding her gyrojet pistol out just a little bit(so that the word "RAID" is visible just above the trigger), she says,"Let's make a deal. You don't call me darlin', and I won't call you numbnuts, 'kay, numbnuts?"

She then notices—out of the corner of her eye—the other Human male standing just at the door, with more than enough weapons to fight the next worm war on his own.

He's sizing me up like I'm sizing him up, Maria observes, letting go of Malcom's hand. He obviously can use those weapons as well as carry them.

"Most dangerous thing on the battlefield's a junior officer with a stick," Maria quips.

"Maria Craig," she adds, not extending a hand for him just yet,"late Chief Warrant Officer in Ral'Ik'ka's Space Defense Force, late of the Gozzorf City Amazons before that, and lately, just plain late."

She then sees...one of them scuttle into the room, Maria forcing herself not to flinch at the glimpse of the revolting thing trying to fake a smile at the others.

"Don't ever smile at me again," she says coldly to the bug,"you filthy, gods-damned bug. Otherwise, you may find it gone."

"Permanently."

Ting ignores her and unsnaps his double holsters as he scuttles toward B'Looone.
"Greetings... the name's Ting Zik Kit."
He extends his penti claw toward the Dralasite.
"Please call me 'Ting."

"Nice Grip, I like a woman with a strong grip... Darlin." Malcom flashes Maria a broad mischievous grin.

"I wonder if he washed his antenae before touching the food." Malcom thinks to himself.

"The size-up,"he thinks to himself. Having dealt with the Horsemen on a few occassions in Maze, he knows this trick. They try to provoke a reaction, to see if you want to show respect or be a bad-ass and go for a thumping.

"Maria Craig," she adds, not extending a hand for him just yet,"late Chief Warrant Officer in Ral'Ik'ka's Space Defense Force, late of the Gozzorf City Amazons before that, and lately, just plain late."

He drops his left arm out to parallel the ground and extends his fingers into a V-shaped peace sign, the classic hoverbiker wave he'd seen. As the newcomer vrusk skittles into the room, he scans the group and offers "Looks like we're all here to answer the same ad for trouble-shooters." He slides his right thumb under the automatic rifle sling. "Pretty sure that title has a dual meaning. Anyone got an idea what the gig is?"
