At the top of her lungs, Lyssa sings:

Warriors of White Light stop your dreaming
Can't you see their mirror'd hulls gleaming
See their thrusters' fire streaming
In the darkest night

Warriors of White Light, stand you steady
It cannot be ever said you
For the battle were not ready
Stand and never yield

From the stars rebounding
Let this war cry sounding
Summon all at Clarion's call
The mighty force surrounding

Warriors of White Light onto glory
This shall ever be your story
Keep these burning words before you
Clarion will not yield!

Warriors of White Light stop your dreaming
Can't you see their mirror'd hulls gleaming
See their thrusters' fire streaming
In the darkest night

Warriors of White Light, stand you steady
It cannot be ever said you
For the battle were not ready
Stand and never yield

From the stars rebounding
Let this war cry sounding
Summon all at Clarion's call
The mighty force surrounding

Warriors of White Light onto glory
This shall ever be your story
Keep these burning words before you
Clarion will not yield!

as the Hind plummets towards Perry Field at maximum burn.

BIC:
Savrax was amused by the Ifshnit shopkeeper's feigned disgust at the thought that his exotic weapons shop would carry something as mundane as a mass produced sonic sword. Knowing it had to be an act he played along and expressed his sorrow at offending such an esteemed merchant and then suggested that he'd see if the local Weapon Mart had a sonic sword.

Rith's real disgust at the mere mention of Weapons Mart hung in the air like an angry cloud. Suddenly he switched tracks and said, "Well there are sonic swords and then there are sonic swords and I may just know where to find one that could be of interest to an admirer of fine weapons."

Savarax responded, "I very much admire fine weapons. Just how fine a weapon might you have?"

"Ah but I didn't say I had such a weapon and besides I probably should not discuss this particular weapon with you as its legality on Clarion is in a gray area, what with you being technically a member of law enforcement and all. Everyone knows that Clarion has very restrictive laws concerning weapon ownership by private citizens."

Savrax countered, "Yes but I'm part of the Royal Marines and we enforce laws in space not on Clarion and the laws that apply to private citizens don't usually apply to the marines."

Rith smiled, "That is true and a number of high ranking Royal Marine officers also own swords by Master Waki Shizaku...I suppose it would be alright to show you."

The mere mention of Master Shizaku's name set Savrax's mouth to watering. Master Shizaku was the renowned weapons smith specializing in sonic weapons. His fame was said to be spread beyond both the Rim and the Frontier and his weapons often qualified as works of art.

Rith brought out a tooled Krik hide presentation case with strange characters tooled into the leather, "蛇のかみ傷".
As Savrax's fingers brushed the surface of the characters, Rith wispered, "Bite of the Serpent."
Opening the case the sonic sword was a work of art with intertwined etched and inlaid serpents swirling and swallowing one another tails. The emitter head was recessed into the mouth of a biting serpent. Master Shizaku's bite of the serpent sonic swords were reputed to do more damage (this is a mark 1 so when rolling damage with it all 1's are discarded and rerolled).
This sword also had a switch that gave it a quiet mode greatly reducing the whine of the live blade that was required by law Frontier wide. Since it did have that setting it must be at least 20 years old; as rumor had it that Master Shizaku had stopped adding that setting to his sonic weapons after Star Law had impounded and destroyed a number of his creations.

"Is this not a weapon to be admired and valued?" Rith asked with quite a bit of stress on the word value. Then the haggling ensued.
Savrax felt worn out from from "doing battle" with the Ifshnit shopkeeper as he left the store and chuckled to himself as he remembered Rith's wails of protest at being robbed of the sword at a price of 610 cr. In all likelihood word had gotten out that Rith had an old school Shizaku sword and needed to unload it quick before someone tried to confiscate it. Without a doubt the value of the bite of the serpent mod was double a normal sonic sword's value but being a Shizaku sword it was rumored to never lose it's fine tuning even in a critical failure like other cheap knock offs would. All in all Savrax probably did rob the Ifshnit but one never knew. It might be advisable to not flaunt the low whine capabilities too much but it should come in handy in a deck by deck taking of a pirate craft where an opponent would have to be right on top of him before he'd here the whine of "Bite of the Serpent" and that would be the second before it bit.
Savrax smiled at that thought before wrapping up his other errands.

OOC: Master Waki Shizaku is 140 years old and a specialist in hand crafted sonic weapons. I'll do a write up on them soon and there may be an article appearing in the zine featuring these at some point. but a 蛇のかみ傷 or "Bite of the Serpent" mod mark 1(reroll all damage dice rolls of 1) adds 100% to the cost of the sonic sword and cheap knock off are out there but the knock off lose their tuning upon a critical failure and revert to being a standard sonic sword and the tuning cannot be restored. A Shizaku sonic weapon adds 100% to the cost for the name and gains the ability to retain its tuning despite a critical failure. Savrax gains this item with a 100% savings only paying 610 cr for 2 reasons: 1 he forced me to develop a new bit of back ground fluff that I am very fond of and 2 he has an quasi-illegal weapon that he should be careful with lest its noticed by NPCs who could hassel him over it.

If I was to compare this to a D&D weapon I would say it was on the level of master work and its story of being older than the famous incident where Master Shizaku sued Star Law to recover several of his works of art should add significantly and the egg heads at the Antiques Space Show would drool all over them selves just to see and appraise it.

OOC: What Savrax doesn't know is that, on the opposite side of the biting serpent, are the letters "MACLEOD." And, that some guy named Clancy had been shaking Rith down for that same blade just last week.

In the end, there can be only one….and I own it! :D That’s a cool history and I love the “stealth mode”. And how much to get vocal lessons for Lyssa? Can we do that for her with hypno-training via the net? ;)

Funny thing happened on my way to post in game... a PC was looking for a sonic weapon and I was forced to write 2 pages worth of new content that will aid in a SFzine article as well. Nice Inigo. there's a write up on these weapons and the master weapons smith under PC Information / Equipment/ Unusual items found in the Frontier if your interested.

OOC: Lyssa is flying the Golden Hind, a HS2 assault shuttle with a forward-mounted pod laser and an atomic drive.

IC: "Normally, I'd do just that, but time's of the essence, and this approach will get us on the ground quicker and get us back in the air quicker."

Sav says in general but directed more towards Mantin, "We will all just have to keep our sensors peeled as we come in hot. Hopefully we see them before they see us...or the Princess."

OOC
Happy New year.
I've sent out an update email to all active or otherwise players, looking to do a turn advance at the end of the week (more likely Friday night going into Saturday instead of Thursday going into Friday as My habit has been).

The weather forecast is not good but you should have plenty of time to pick up the princess and get her into orbit before the blizzard closes in. Perry Field is rated for both full up atmospheric landing or a tail first rocket landing. (It is very likely the only safe place for a shuttle to land in atmospheric mode though it could be possible to do a tail first landing in many other possible locations; that style of landing will require refueling (engineering skill required to load new atomic fuel pellet and time while atmospheric landing allows for almost immediate lift off).

Welcome back to the game.

Savrax nods at Alyssa’s idea of the sat feeds. He turns to a monitor at his station and punches up the weather sat image that they had received just minutes ago at their briefing. He fidgets with it trying to zoom in to their target area, looking for indications of persons or vehicles that look suspiciously placed. As he is doing so he asks, “Can someone get me an updated weather image of our target area so I can compare it to this one? Or is there any access to ‘real time’ data images?” This discourse was unaddressed to any particular crew member since Sav has not spent much time with the crew as a whole on duty and as yet doesn’t know everybody’s jobs or abilities.

Using his com, Savrax directs an inquiry to Ajax. “What can you tell us about Princess Avana? What size of an entourage should we expect to find with her? And is she a pretty sensible Lady, or will this be…difficult?

Savrax was on the open com with Ajax when he got the updated weather sat feed and something about it bothered him. The cloud cover was closing in obscuring much of the field but infra red showed 3 jet copters at Perry Field that were not there in the first satellite image. There was also heat signitures from 6 beings. Two were kneeling and doing something out at the sides of the runway while the other 4 seemed to be setting up some sort of equipment on a tripod.
To Ajax he asked, "Ajax are there any of the Royal Guards at the landing field and are they packing heavy weapons?"

"Negative. Hind be advised that our intel about the GOC cell operating out of Lapin indicated they're using jetcopters."

Savrax informed Alyssa, "We have probable hostiles on the ground at Perry Field with heavy weapons. There are 3 hot copters and all other vehicles are cold."

OOC: You are 10 minutes from the field. what you like to do now?

IC: "There are also two hover cars missing from the vehicle park at Perry Field that were there 35 minutes ago as well as a humanoid body cooling to the ambient temp."
