Moving to a new domain

Postby Admin » Thu Apr 23, 2009 8:28 am

I've been trying for over a year now to get the starfrontiers.net domain but the owner of that domain, who has had it registered since 2000 and not done a thing with it, does not respond when I try to contact him. While I will continue to try to get that domain as it was the one this site was envisioned for, I'm going to move this site to the other starfrontiers domain I own.

Effective May 1st, 2009, this site will be moving to a new domain. The new location will be http://www.starfrontiers.info. That domain is active now and the old domain will remain active into the future for all the older links out there. If you have links to this site, please consider updating them to the new domain.

Until May 1st, using the new domain may result in some strange behavior with the forums (mainly requiring you to possibly reauthenticate when you follow a crosslink in forum posts) as the cookies being set will still use the old domain. After May 1st, using the old domain will cause that behavior.

Hopefully, this will go smoothly and not cause too many problems. If you have any issues let me know.

I've changed the domain name just a bit. I've dropped the www from the main site address. You should clear your board cookies using the link at the bottom of the page and connect to the site using the http://starfrontiers.info URL instead of www.starfrontiers.info. The latter will still work but the login and session cookies might not be quite right. Let me know if you have any problems.
