Disgusted with the mundane existance his parents were "forced" into to survive and raise him he vowed to do something more meaningful with his life. An early interest in computers and all things electronic led him into the technical field where he excelled at computers and to a lesser degree Robotics and robot programming. His parents scrabbled together funding for his intro year in higher education but a shift in the economy left them unable to reenroll him. Feeling lost and like his future was being stolen from him he, in deperation, joined the military. Ortwin barely survived boot camp and was set to wash out when a keen minded superior identified his natural ability with computers and had him shifted over to a military services division.
